2009 Storyline
THE PLOT THICKENS...
Years have passed. Medipharmatronics has been able to create its own “fern farms” and cultivate a promising business because of the Koolamula plant's healing powers and a new line of products based on them...

However, that was until “The Global Depression” that is in its seventh year and has brought the world's economy to its knees. Public and private institutions have not fared well with many failing the public and, in turn, the public has started to give up on them. It includes the collapse of not only third world governments, but also those of more developed nations. Medipharmatronics is now wrestling with its own future, as the company is not making enough profit (no one can afford to purchase it) to cover its huge start-up costs/loans.

The Coalition has its own problems. Many of the member governments are teetering on the brink of collapse. The global depression has exacerbated the rise of ethnic, religious and other opposition groups that are taking the opportunity to reach their goals (independence, theocracies, etc.). Coalition forces have been focusing on these direct threats to their interests. In their weakened state, these challenges are much more serious.

In the midst of it all a global anarchy movement has surfaced, lead by “Envision Anarchy.” Envision Anarchy has capitalized on citizens’ loss of faith in public and private institutions to further their own goals. It has accelerated the collapse through demonstrations, general strikes, and cyber attacks. However, it has secretly escalated its activities recently to chemical/biological attacks to further highlight public and private institutions' inability to protect the public. Their hope is it will bring the downfall of civilization as we know it (governments, capitalism, etc.).

Amazingly, the only known cure to Envision Anarchy’s new chemical/biological agent is a product made by Medipharmatronics. The company’s fortunes as a result have drastically changed for the better, but there is an emerging question about the relationship between the two.

So again the stage is set to continue your

January:
NEW YORK (AP) - Medipharmatronics released its end of the year economic numbers and showed a four percent increase in profits over last year. However, on this news the company’s stock price fell 13 points from $55.5 per share to $43.5 as the earnings fell far short of its forecast. Years ago, Medipharmatronics borrowed heavily to create its own koolamula fern farms across the globe and cultivated a promising business because of the plants’ healing powers and a new line of products based on them.

February:
NEW YORK (AP) - “The Global Depression” entered its sixth year and the world economy again failed to show any signs of growth. A record number of companies closed their doors in the previous year only further swelling the ranks of the unemployed. The public’s faith in private and public institutions continued to sink to all time lows.

March:
Karachi (AP) - The United States and its allies increased its support of the military government in Pakistan. Allied troops in concert with Pakistani troops won a number of engagements with Taliban and Al-Qaeda forces, but were unsuccessful in bringing an end to the hostilities. The increased involvement further stretched the Coalition, which was already spread across the globe in reaction to the rise in ethnic, religious and other conflicts worldwide due to the global depression.

Second quarter
By associated press reporters

April:
LONDON (AP) - A general strike that spanned Europe for nearly three weeks crippled many countries and spawned numerous riots. The inability of governments to respond and ensure normalcy and basic services intensified the call for upheaval. Envision Anarchy, which seeks “the downfall of civilization as we know it,” is credited with organizing the continent-wide general strike.

May:
ROME (AP) - The government of Italy collapsed as a result of their handling of the economy and after effects of its powerlessness to Aprils' general strike and resulting riots. Summer Olympics scheduled for Rome in July were cancelled.

June:
CAPE TOWN (AP) - In Johannesburg, South Africa 57 people were killed in a chemical attack in the city’s business district. Envision Anarchy has stepped forward to claim responsibility. The chemical agent used was previously unknown.

Third quarter
By associated press reporters

July:
NEW YORK (AP) - Medipharmatronics’ stock fell in response to negative publicity from a 60 Minutes exposé on the number of deaths at the hands of its mercenaries protecting their koolamula farms.

August:
NEW YORK (AP) - Wall Street and several other financial markets across the world closed for two days as a result of a cyber attack. Envision Anarchy claimed responsibility for the coordinated shut down of the financial markets and pointed to it as further proof the world’s public and private institutions are failing the general public.

September:
BUENOS AIRES (AP) - A medical discovery was made by Medipharmatronics scientists working on an antidote to the agent used in the earlier Johannesburg chemical attack. The cure is a derivative of the koolamula fern.
